In Pori, both nature and services are always nearby. The city centre is characterised by the Kokemaenjoki River that flows through the city, with its islets and islands. The best known of these is Kirjurinluoto, a green recreational oasis for the whole family and the main location of the international jazz festival. The Pori Art Museum, Satakunta Museum and the city's most beautiful stone houses, built in the 19th century, are all located in the city centre, near the river. The Natural Heritage Centre Arkki presents the wetlands wildlife and birdlife characteristic of the Kokemaki and Pori regions.
