Lübeck offers many different pleasures. You can enjoy the Gothic architecture of the city churches in the mainly pedestrianised old town, or admire the different styles of merchants' houses, the old Town Hall and the Holy-Ghost-hos-pice. Lübeck's museums are especially stimulating. The Buddenbrookhouse, Mengstraße 4, is an absolute must too. It was the home of the grandparents of the writers Heinrich and Thomas Mann, both born in Lübeck. They belong to a whole host of other famous sons of the city, such as the composer Dietrich Buxtehude, the sculptor Bernt Notke or Willy Brandt and Günter Grass, who both won the Nobel Prize. The Günter-Grass-House opened in 2002, Glockengi-eßerStraße21,and since 2007 the Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt Foundation offers a permanent exhibition on Willy Brandt's life and influence in the Willy Brandt House Lübeck, Königstraße 21.
