IT-vision - Citizens in Focus
|
Among the top priorities for Danes searching
the Internet are the websites of public offices. Thus in
terms of IT, the ball is firmly in the court of these public
offices, and Aalborg City Council has chosen to lead the
way with regard to this challenge.
Aalborg City Council is to be a model, high-tech
public organisation which focuses on its citizens. The City
Council will utilise the latest technology in a dialogue
with local citizens and business, whilst at the same time
striving to be an attractive place to work that is able
to attract and retain qualified employees.
With the nomination of North Jutland as a
so-called IT "lighthouse", the challenge for the
local authority is to create a coherent IT boost, which
will provide significant, long-term benefits for the local
authority, citizens and business in Aalborg. The aim is
to become an active and competent partner within the IT
environment in North Jutland, and to contribute to the creation
of a network society in the region.
Aalborg City Council shall provide high quality
and efficiency in its services for the citizens, enterprises
and other business partners. The basis for decisions must
be more readily and rapidly available and resources must
be transferred from administration to the service of local
citizens.
The human resources must therefore be utilised
better. The qualifications and skills must be fully exploited
and working procedures must be simplified. The City Council
shall move towards more self-service facilities available
24 hours a day in order to provide better service to citizens
and business and better utilisation of the resources within
the municipal organisation.
The IT vision is to be implemented through a number of projects
which will all help to secure Aalborg City Council's position
as an IT lighthouse.
The local authority cannot have a digital
facade without a digital inner core. If Aalborg City Council
does not operate with both self-service and with the digitalisation
of administration, resources will not be freed up for use
in other areas. On the contrary, it will create new working
procedures. Without digital administration, obstacles will
also appear with regard to how quickly the local authority
can offer new services on the Internet.
