Dear Sir/Madam,

Zennström Philanthropies, the foundation of Niklas Zennström, Swedish entrepreneur and founder of Skype, is currently organising a large Baltic Sea region campaign 'Race for the Baltic' to raise awareness about the challenges that we are facing in the Baltic Sea. This is a cross-regional, multi-stakeholder campaign that aims to involve all actors and parties in this pressing issue.

'Race for the Baltic' is staging a 3 month, 9 country, 3500km cycling tour as part of a large campaign in order to bring the degradation of the Baltic Sea to the attention of communities across the Baltic Sea region and to gather their support. The local community events in more than 70 towns and cities are held to collect petition signatures to be presented at Helcom in October.

The UBC President Per Boedker Andersen finds this initiative very interesting and asks UBC member cities for active participation and support.
