Looking for partners

Jekabpils Municipality is looking for potential partner municipalities in Scandinavia. For the time being, the city has had no close co-operation with Scandinavian municipalities, which are nevertheless, our closest neighbours. The idea is to find a city which would like to cooperate on a permanent basis in a variety of fields: environment, culture and education, sports and tourism and joint efforts of participation in EU programmes.

Our partner town or city should have good experience in coping with postindustrial transition problems, a good record of achievement in the development of new employment with the help of computer technologies, should be interested in the environment and human resource development issues. The size of potential partner town is of less importance but preferably it should be as important within its country as Jekabpils is in Latvia, the eighth largest city.
