UBC Classes

The Board of the Commission on Education is presently developing the Commission Secretariat, the Website and the concept of UBC-Classes.

Secretariat

When the Commission on Education was established it was decided that Kardla in Estonia should have the secretariat. The city of Norrtälje has taken the responsibility to support the development of Commission's secretariat. This process is proceeding.

Website

The Commission meeting in Stockholm 1999, discussed how the information on educational matters can be disseminated in an easy and routine way to all UBC member cities. The meeting decided that Commission website should be developed and discussed the contents of the homepage. It was also decided that an information brochure will be published in order to raise the UBC members' consciousness about common educational matters.

UBC-classes

The Commission decided in Stockholm to develop the concept of UBC-classes. UBC-classes will offer pupils and students from UBC member cities to take specific Baltic Sea courses. The classes should include such themes as population, politics, history, culture, environment etc.

Next session

The next session of the Commission on Education will take place in Estonia in April 2001. In March 2001 the member cities will be informed about the session's program.
