City of Festivals

Liepâja offers an active and rich season of culture, sport and entertainment all year long. Different festivals take place in the city of Liepâja, the motto of which is – City, where the wind is born.

There are several popular festivals with international resonance:

Amber of Liepâja – rock music festival with already 27 years old traditions; International Piano Stars Festival – which will have the 10^th Anniversary next year, inviting together classical and contemporary pianists from different generations and schools; Let's sound! – children music festival.

Liepâja also takes pride in hosting the International Motor Rally Kurzeme -a stage of European Championships and one of the broadest chess tournaments in the Baltic States -"Castling of the Liepaja".

Each summer artists of Liepâja organise an international painting City and See, an exclusive entertainment offer is the Beach party, and the European DJ Festival. A wonderful opportunity for entertainment is the Festival of Songs about See organised by most popular Latvian composer Raimonds Pauls in the middle of the summer.

The city celebrates its own festival "In my and your Liepâja" each year in July, offering various entertainment and cultural programs for different ages, interests and feelings.

During the city festival there are special days for children, youth, middle-age people, and cultural integration days with participation of various ethnical groups. This is one of our largest international projects open for all creative people. We kindly invite professional artists from different countries that have creative ideas and innovative projects to develop them in our city of Liepâja.
