Training of Local Officials and Matching of Companies

Training of local officials from Kaliningrad in project management and matching of businesses within the IT and electronics sector from Denmark and St. Petersburg are two projects just starting up from the EU office Aalborg.

The project MindMatch has just begun in September 2001. A seminar to be held in St. Petersburg in the spring of 2002 and an Internet page are core elements in finding and matching companies from Denmark and the St. Petersburg region – which is the aim of the project. The companies are found within the IT-and electronics sector. The matching of companies shall result in long-term cooperation arrangements. Participation in this project can be of great benefit for the competitiveness of the companies on the global market.

Another central element of the project is training. The Russian companies will receive training in amongst others western business terms, human resource management, international auditing and Danish business culture. Furthermore, the Danish companies will receive training in Russian business culture. The project is set to run from September 2001 till June 2003.

Training of local officials from the Kaliningrad municipality in project management is the key element in another project beginning this fall of 2001.

The aim of the project is to develop the skills of the officials of Kaliningrad Authority in relation to project development and management. Furthermore, their knowledge of the EUsystem and EU funded programmes will be increased.

The main themes of the workshops and seminars organised within the project will be "Economic development and the SME sector" and "Environment and energy". Hands-on experience is also central. Therefore, some participants will have the opportunity for a traineeship at the North of Denmark EU Office in Brussels.

This project can increase the possibilities for the Kaliningrad region to develop through the participation in EU projects in the future.
