Interactive Information Service

The BOING project - Baltic On-Line Interactive Geographical and Environmental Information Service - has created a new prototype information service, gathering all kinds of information on this issue. Is there something you want to know about eutrophication in the Baltic Sea? Where can you find alga blooms or dead and oxygen deficient bottoms? What is there done about it?

At the main page the visitor is presented with an encyclopaedia and glossary that describe the overall issues and give a general overview. Digging deeper into the BOING service, the user is directed to five sub-sites about different aspects of the complex problem. The sub-sites contain descriptions of indicators that act as benchmarks, as well as interactive maps, databases - and data downloads. Explore the BOING information service, and tell us what you think – this is still a prototype and improvements and updates are planned

The BOING project is funded through the EU Info2000 programme, and is managed by the Finnish Institute of Marine Research, UNEP/GRID-Arendal and Stockholm University Department of Systems Ecology.
