The Projects' Season

The City of Jurmala is known as a place for tourism and spa. A successful geographic location and status gives an opportunity not only to attract tourists and also to develop business. It is a part of Jurmala's image that will be developed by representing the city as a place not only for tourism and spa but also for business, environment protection, culture, and sport.

The specialists from the Department of Economics and Development at Jurmala City Council in co-operation with territorial planners just started to recognise the possible places for running a business. Taking into account the goal of visiting tourists - to relax and enjoy the summertime in Jurmala - there is a work done for finding the most proper territories to offer them to business.

The city offers also certain projects that can be successfully implemented. As one of the most perspective projects is building a camping. It should be located near the centre of the city and a place for spa where the most part of tourists relax. The other attractive project is a development of the network of public catering. It should be located through all the city in places where the most of inhabitants work. It will provide stable incomes through all the seasons.

Also the Sport and Entertainment Centre is planned to develop for families with active way of life. The Water Sport Centre should be located close to river Lielupe or the coast of the Baltic Sea. During the planning process the authors think about entertainment offers in winter and spring.

Jurmala City Council plans to start the presentation of developed projects' conceptions in various exhibitions related to attract an attention of potential investors. Those activities will be started at the autumn of 2001.
