ARENA FOR YOUTH
|
The youth workers have started with young
people a project "Participating Arena". The goal
is to get youngsters interested in participating in the
municipal life and decision making, to prevent drinking
alcohol, using drugs. And the methods are:
- training so called supervisors among youngsters,
- supervisors supporting other youngsters f. ex in school
problems,
- giving chances to the young to arrange events,
- supervisors get to know different support systems for
young in Kotka
The project has been given a national award
for its goal "From young to young". All activities
around the project will continue until 31st May
2002. The municipal youth office of Kotka, the regional
parish and two schools are involved with the project.
The Youth Forum on the 3rd May 2001
In May the youngsters of the project have
invited all politicians from town council and different
boards and the officials to answer to their questions according
young people living conditions in Kotka. The subjects will
be schools, housing question, employment and leisure time
services. Maybe it will be a tough task for politicians
to find answers satisfying young!
