The latest Baltic Cities Environmental Bulletin 1/2010 is now available. http://www.ubc-environment.net/index.php/news/article/135
The Bulletin is dedicated to Sustainable Solutions for cities.
In the editorial, Karen Elleman, Minister for the Environment and Minister for Nordic Cooperation of Denmark, highlights that cities ability to adapt to changes is crucial for their ability to cope in the global competition for inhabitants, investment and business. To enter the age of sustainable growth we must also embrace new ways of thinking. A large number of articles received for the Bulletin stress the importance of active stakeholder involvement. These examples showcase the results gained through uniting resources and activating citizens.
The feature story introduces world of solutions and stresses the individual solutions and networking as key issues. The city articles from Växjö, Kalmar, Tartu, Rostock, Grefswald, Karlstad, Örebro, Slupsk, Malmö, Panevezys, Turku and Rakvere provide us with more insight on the experiences on identified solutions for current challenges. Furthermore, the Bulletin includes actions and methods from WAB, Eco-supporters, BaltCICA, SNOOP and NEW BRIDGES projects as well as Solutions local, together conference. The special pages for the Commission on Energy urge us to light our public spaces with LED light!
