The city of Kuressaare will celebrate its 451st birthday in May 2014. As Kuressaare is nominated to be a child and youth friendly city the youth events are also part of the week. The Youth Bands’ Festival of Saaremaa is a project organized by Kuressaare Youth Hobby Centre and brings together young musicians from all over Saaremaa and Estonia. The festival will be held on the 9th and 10th of May this year. It is an opportunity to the youth bands to perform at the big stage and compare themselves with others.

The festival has become an international youth project and we kindly invite guests from abroad to participate to bring the international dimension to our local festival.

The festival will host up to 12 youth groups (5 youngsters per band and an adult leader), who can show their skills at the stage during 20 minutes. The age limit is 13–26 years old (according to Estionian Youth Work Act). From abroad two youth bands are more than welcome to take part. The accomodation will be provided by the organizers (Kuressaare Youth Hobby Centre). We kindly ask you to take care of your travel expenses. The style of the festival varies from funky fusion to rock.
