Dear friends!

Thank you for a very interesting 2012. Our seminars in Halmstad and Elblag were indeed both educational and strengthening our across The Baltic See network. In Halmstad we had the pleasure to carry out a joint seminar with the commissions on Environment, Transport and Energy and in Elblag we were “only us” again. The host cities did a tremendous job – thank you very much! 

Besides the seminars the steering group were invited to visit the Executive Board meeting in Koszalin, Poland in October. It’s my understanding the board is very satisfied with our work and we invited the board members to come to our seminars. 

By the end of the year the steering group enrolled our network in a British EU-application which is about supporting a sustainable urban development in China. So maybe in the future we will have guest visitors from China at our seminars. Anyone of you is of cause welcome to use these contacts to link your own cities with Chinese cities. 

The idea of joint seminars will be repeated in 2013. In Umeå, Sweden, May 26^th-29^th we will join forces with The Commission on Gender Equality and in Kolding, Denmark, September (probably 15^th–18^th) with the Commission on Culture. Enclosed you find the first invitation to the Umeå-seminar. Please mark the dates in your calendar. I’m looking very much forwards to both seminars and to see you all again together with new colleges. 

And please start thinking about 2014 too – the steering group welcome you to put your selves in line with new themes, new ideas and as coming-up host-cities. 

But first we will relax – please enjoy the coming holiday – and see you in 2013!
