Kotka is only one and a half hour' drive from Helsinki. The Vaalimaa border crossing station on the border between Finland and Russia lies 65 kilometres away from Kotka, and the distance to the metropolis of St Petersburg is only 279 kilometres.
- 20 daily buses between Helsinki and Kotka, approx. 2 hours.
- Several buses to the Helsinki
- Vantaa airport, approx. 2 hours.
- Daily bus services to St Petersburg from Karhula (10 km from the centre of Kotka).
- Kymi airfield (approx. 15 km from the centre) for small aircraft.
- Six daily train services to Kouvola directly from the Kotka City Port, travel time less than one hour.
- In summer, Emperors' Summer Route cruises by Kristina Cruises to Lake Saimaa on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
