New Culture Board

IV annual working session of the Commission on Culture was held in Szczecin, Poland on 9-10.06.2000

The main purpose of the meeting was election of a new Culture Commission Board for the period of June 2000 - June 2002. New board members were elected by open voting by 21 represented cities.

The newly elected commission board consists of: Mr Hannes Astok, Tartu, Mr Olov Gibson, Visby, Mr Bjorn Holmvik, Bergen, Ms Riitta Hurme, Espoo, Mr Slawomir Szafranski, Szczecin.

Mr Slawomir Szafranski has been accepted as a Chairman and Ms Riitta Hurme as his Vice-Chairman commission's Secretariat remains in Szczecin for the next five years.

Mr Slawomir Szafranski and Mr Olov Gibson informed about the activities of the Commission in 1993-2000 under the leadership of Szczecin and Visby. Proposals for the future cultural co-operation within UBC were presented.

Meeting of the CoC Board Tartu, 8-10 September 2000

The main goal of the meeting was elaboration of the CoC action plan for 2000-2002 and the preparations for the Vth annual CoC session to be held in Helsinki-Espoo, September 8-10, 2001 on the theme "Artistic Education in the Baltic Cities".

The Secretariat of the CoC will keep informing all the member cities on preparations for the session.
