New Address of the Commission
UBC Commission on Environment together with
Baltic Region Healthy Cities Association, VALONIA (Service
center on sustainable development and energy for Southwest
Finland) and Centrum Balticum form the so called Baltic
Sea House opened on 19 August 2008 by the Mayor of Turku
Mikko Pukkinen. - The Baltic Sea House in Turku is built
on a perfect surrounding involving several organisations
dealing with the Baltic Sea, sustainable development, political
and cross cultural understanding. For the Commission it
gives good possibilities to further strengthen our work
with UBC cities. The Baltic Sea is also a clear message
from our host city of its strong dedication to the common
cooperation in the BSR, says Björn Grönholm, Head
of Secretariat of UBC Environment and Sustainable Development
Secretariat.
Altogether around 40 people work in the Baltic
Sea House. The House is located in historically and culturally
valuable setting of the Old Great Market in the Hjelt Manor.
