Johvi Industrial Park

In recent years Johvi has become the fastest developing town in Ida-Virumaa attracting the majority of region's business and service industries. Johvi has also become the location for the administrative structures of North-East Estonia. 180 000 people live within a 50-kilometre circle making Johvi district the second largest settlement in the Republic after Tallinn.

Price Waterhouse Coopers has been commissioned to prepare a business plan for Johvi Industrial Park. The Programme finances the project for the Areas of Industrial Structuring of Enterprise Estonia. The business plan suggests stages, structure, financial needs and resources for development of the Industrial Park. The future industrial park has strategically and logistically excellent location. It has the infrastructure suitable for manufacturing enterprise and flexible facilities, as well as the potential to draw on the labour force of Johvi and the surrounding area. One possibility for development is intensive industries such as metallurgical, engineering and instrument making. On the other hand, textile, woodworking and food producing industries are being considered.

As developments connected with the industrial park depend largely on finding additional financing options for the starter investments, it was decided to make a bid for financial aid from the funds of both the Estonian Government and the European Union. The Industrial Park will be located in the Mining Education Centre complex, consisting of several buildings on a large area of land on the outskirts of Johvi. Preparations are under way to find tenants for the Johvi Industrial Park.
