Cesis Jubilee

In the end of July City of Cesis in Latvia celebrated 795 years jubilee. Three days were full of events – sanctification of the new city flag, music and folkdance concerts, exhibitions, and Latvian beer festival. However already now Cesis is preparing to its 800-years jubilee in 2006. Although there is still five years it is important to snug the city for jubilee.

In the concept of Cesis 800-year jubilee, the next year 2002 is devoted to Resident of Cesis. The year concept is to keep a closer watch on family history and family tree, to remind about our roots.

The slogan for 2003 is Cesis in The World – how have we made us seen in the world? This year Cesis goes in the world – to find famous former residents of Cesis, to introduce City to our neighbours and friends, visit our twin cities with an informative exhibition.

In the year 2004 Cesis will have its Days in Riga. Riga celebrates its 800-year jubilee five years earlier than Cesis. It is important to show us in Riga, to let people know about what happens in Cesis, what we can offer.

The year 2005 will be devoted to Cesis in 15 years of independence – what has changed what has improved, and what have we done. This year is meant to realise the maximal acceleration of the town's development. This year could be the last chance, to begin and complete by the year 2006 any considerable projects to improve the town's environment

And finally the year of jubilee – year 2006. Festivals, concerts, exhibitions, seminars and conferences will take place in Cesis – a complete range of events to satisfy the broadest range of interests.
