BEST CITY PRACTICES - APPROACHING CONCLUSION

The third and the last workshop of the ongoing Best City Practices (BCP) project will be organised in Turku, Finland 8-11 November 2001. All five city couples, which participate in the project, will present there their feasibility studies, completed during the summer. In addition, the agenda of the workshop will include topics like funding, public information work and some workgroup working according to the wishes of the city pairs.

It is also meant that at least some of the cities participating in the UBC Environmental Award 2001 could participate in the workshop in Turku. This would spread the information about BCP's working methods, new contacts could be created between BCP and Award cities and two way transformation of good practices would be enabled.

As BCP project has so far been successfull and benchmarking as a working method has been practical, it is also reasonable to think the future of the BCP also during the third workshop. Will there be continuation for the project, phase two? Or will there be "BCP II" with new city pairs, with Environmental Award 2001 cities? Commission on Environment is developing thoughts around BCP project and welcomes all ideas regarding it!
