The Commission on Culture had a very short meeting last week in Liepaja where the UBC 20 years anniversary General Conference was held. On Thursday morning 6^th October there was an election of a new board for  the Commission on Culture. The new elected members are  Mr. Sigitas Sliazas (Kaunas), Ms. Lone Leth Larsen (Kolding), Ms. Karin Wohlgemuth (Rostock) and Ms. Jaana Simula (Pori). The mandate period according to the election rules for the new members is four years. The following members of the old board are continuing for the next two years: Ms. Agrita Ozola (Tukums), Ms. Olga Cherkasova (St. Petersburg) and Ms. Charlotte Lundkvist (Umeå). According to the election rules the mandate period for the continuing old members is two years and then there will be an election of candidates from Latvia, Russia and Sweden.

CoC board also invited Ms. Ninni Berggren-Magnusson from Gävle  to the secretary of the commission. The Commission on Culture appreciate very much that Ms. Berggren-Magnusson and the city of Gävle are willing to take care of the CoC secretariat. With your ideas and any  questions concerning the UBC Commission on Culture you are always welcome to contact all the board members and the secretary of the commission.

The members of the old and the new board are having a common meeting in Gävle 9^th December when one of the members of the new board will be elected to be a chairman and one of the board members will be elected as vice-chairman of the Commission on Culture.
