Rakvere has the pleasure to invite all the member cities of UBC to the greatest event of this summer – the Second Punk Song Festival!

Dear All,

The first Punk Song Festival in Estonia and, as far as it is known, also in the world, took place in Rakvere on 7th of June, 2008. Mostly Estonian punk classic songs were performed by 1700 choir singers for an audience of approximately 8000 people. The final song of the Festival was Anarchy in the UK, the punk classic by Sex Pistols. The first Punk Song Festival was a great success and therefore the time has come to go even further – to Europe!

On 11th of June, 2011, the Second Punk Song Festival under the name Anarchy in the EU will be held as the main event of Rakvere as a European City of Culture 2011. The repertoire of the Festival will include the most significant pieces of punk classics. Choirs across Europe are expected to participate in the Song Festival.

Therefore, I have the pleasure of inviting you, dear Member Cities, to participate in this great event. We encourage you to distribute this information (see attached) to the choirs of your city or why not, form a choir of your own and learn the repertoir.

See you in Rakvere in June, either as a member of a choir or just a spectator!
