Turku, 3-4 June 2015

The newly established Sustainable Cities Commission (SCC) consists of the former commissions of environment, energy and transport. The commission and its secretariat will be hosted by the city of Turku, Finland and operated by the former EnvCom Secretariat. Also the activities, projects and meetings will be continued as before, and the Commission invites the UBC cities for any input and feedback.

In the middle of March the commission had a first meeting back-to-back with the “Meeting Point Urban Magma” Conference in Malmö. The main purpose was to have an initial discussion on the draft UBC Sustainable Action program. The minutes form the meeting are enclosed.

The meeting will be organized lunch-to-lunch, allowing enough time to work as well as having a networking evening together.

“We will discuss the structure of the new commission´s work together and will further develop the draft for the upcoming new UBC Sustainable Action Programme 2016-2020. For all this we really need your input and are looking forward to many participants!

Additionally, we will also have a first meeting to develop a project proposal on “ Circular Economy in the BSR”. A first draft agenda you find  here.” says Björn Grönholm, on behalf of the UBC Sustainable Cities Commission.
