Union of the Baltic Cities - Commission on Environment , City of Gdansk, and the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) have the pleasure of inviting you to share “Practical experiences on advanced municipal sewage treatment” – PURE FINAL CONFERENCE in Gdansk on 16-17 October 2012. 

The event consists of two parts:
- on 16^th October the Polish national situation and international views on the role of municipal waste water treatment in reaching EU norms and HELCOM recommendations are discussed and results and experiences of EU financed project PURE* in Belarus, Estonia, Germany, Latvia and Poland are presented and shared;
- on 17^th October in the morning there will be an excursion to the Gdansk’s  ‘Wschód’ WWTP

The event is organized by *Project on Urban Reduction on Eutrophication (PURE) and it will be the Final Conference of the project.

Focus

Partner Water Companies of PURE project have implemented concrete investments to enhance their phosphorus removal and have planned improvements in their sludge management. Organising this event, we want to promote practical experiences in problem solving and provide inspiration and ideas for further work in the field of municipal wastewater treatment. Voluntary commitments to improve waste water and sewage sludge treatment emphasize the importance of local actions – impact of which extend wide beyond the local borders of municipalities.

The conference is free of charge and the main conference language is English. Simultaneous interpretation is provided to Russian. Registration is open till 28.9.2012 http://www.purebalticsea.eu/index.php/pure:final_conference
