Seminar `Cross border cooperation on climate and energy in the BSR´

Invitation to seminar:

Cross border cooperation on climate and energy in the Baltic Sea Region

Priority Area 5 and Priority Area 10 are pleased to invite you to a seminar on `Cross border cooperation on climate and energy in the Baltic Sea Region´. The seminar is initiated as part of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region Priority Area 5 and 10 within the field of energy and climate, and focuses on the political process in the region.

The seminar will take place on the 19th June 2012, 8:45-17:30, at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation in Copenhagen, Denmark.

A primary objective for the seminar is to discuss and develop a number of recommendations for EU regarding the strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, and for the network `Union of Baltic Cities´, and other relevant municipal cooperation forums. The seminar is aimed at civil servants and politicians from municipalities and cities across the Baltic Sea Region, who act as frontrunners in the field of climate and/or energy or are part of existing networks, or municipalities and cities that are looking to increase their effort in these fields.

The seminar is a forum to exchange experiences and ask questions - How do you best organise the process? – How can you engage the political level? Or how can you make sure that your projects will be carried through? The programme consists of a number of presentations by keynote speakers combined with time for discussion, in order to develop common recommendations for the political level. The presentations focus on existing and planned strategies and visions for the region, as well as a number of specific best practice examples from municipalities and cities in the region.

All participants are invited to bring a poster showcasing experiences and/or case examples from the respective city or municipality.

The seminar is conducted parallel to the `14th Baltic Development Forum Summit´ and the `Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region´, which is scheduled to take place in Copenhagen, 17-19th June 2012. This will make it possible for participants of the seminar to attend relevant sessions and networking activities at the BDF-summit/EUSBSR-forum. You can read more about the BDF-summit/EUSBSR-forum on www.bsr2012.eu

To register, please send a mail to: tn@eaea.dk

Participation in the conference is free. Enrollment will be first come first served principle. The participants will be validated by the organisers prior to the conference, including additional information on the venue.

A program for the seminar is attached as well as discussion points. Additional background information on the different seminar presentations will be provided upon registration.

Join us in Copenhagen and share your thoughts and ideas. We look forward to seeing you!
