Sustainable Cities Commission working meeting

Dear UBC member cities

fresh winds are blowing in our network and we are happy to welcome you to our new Sustainable Cities Commission (SCC)!

In our case the former commissions of environment, energy and transport have been joined into a new one: the Sustainable Cities Commission.

The commission and its secretariat will be hosted by the city of Turku, Finland and operated by the former EnvCom Secretariat, so many of our established contacts will remain the same. Also our activities, projects and meetings will continue as before, but we hope to have you as active cities onboard and are welcoming any input and feedback. We are here to serve you!

For current projects and activities, please check our website www.ubc-sustainable.net!

If you have not done so yet, go and like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ubcenvcom?ref=hl for more frequent updates on what we do, events and other relevant info for you!

Looking back at Malmö:

In the middle of March our commission had a first meeting back-to-back with the “Meeting Point Urban Magma” Conference in Malmö. The main purpose was to have an initial discussion on the draft UBC Sustainable Action program.   Please find the minutes form the meeting enclosed!

Looking forward to Turku: SAVE THE DATE!

Herewith we  warmly invite you to the next SCC meeting in Turku on June 3-4 2015!

Please save the date and register already now on our website!

Registration deadline: 13.05.2015

The meeting will be organized lunch-to-lunch, allowing enough time to work as well as having a networking evening together.

We will discuss the structure of the new commission´s work together and will further develop the draft for the upcoming new UBC Sustainable Action Programme 2016-2020.

For all this we really need your input and are looking forward to many participants!

Additionally, we will also have a first meeting to develop a project proposal on “ Circular Economy in the BSR”. A first draft agenda you find here.

Attached we send you already some information for your travel planning, we are happy to help if needed!

Welcome again to our commission, we are looking forward to working with all of you in the future!

If you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact us at the secretariat.

See you soon in Turku,

Best regards,

Björn Grönholm on behalf of the UBC Sustainable Cities Commission
