International Chopin Piano Competition

The International Competition of young pianists from the Baltic Sea countries is dedicated to the works of Frederic Chopin. It is the most prominent event in the cultural life in February. In the course of  more than 10 years 300 pianists from 20 countries of Europe and Asia have taken part in the competition. The members of the international jury have been famous musicians from Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Finland, France and Germany. Since 2002 the Chopin Competition has been a part of the European Union Youth Competitions Network (EMCY) and is organised once every two years. The Competition is supported by Narva Municipality, the Estonian Ministry of Culture, the Polish Ministry of Culture and the

National Heritage Foundation, the Embassy of Poland in Estonia, the Embassy of France in Estonia, the Polish Radio, Frederic Chopin National Institute in Warsaw and other organisations. Polish businessman Mr. Miroslaw Pienkowski is the main sponsor of the Competition. The main venue of the event is Narva music school. After the contest, the winners perform galas. True music loves and admirers of the great composer’s talent would be happy to use this opportunity to enjoy the famous nocturnes, ballades, and sonatas performed with reverence by young talents.
